AC Shadows Introduces Bizarre AoT Collaboration for Holiday Season
In a surprising partnership that challenges traditional expectations, Ubisoft has revealed an virtual partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual holiday event operates from November 25 through December 22, offering complimentary extra story content for Shadows players.
Strange Mission Disclosed
According to the official release, "A mysterious meeting draws heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a original quest, where whispers of prohibited ceremonies and monstrous metamorphoses resonate through the shadows." The plot introduces a "unusually dressed woman named Ada" who charges the duo with journeying into the Gemstone Grotto—a important location from Attack on Titan—to save her friend from a hidden group.
The mission concentrates on "peculiar tests and a terrifying enemy" and is open to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.
Iconic Locations and Changes
The trailer highlights the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was formerly where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through ages. The trailer finishes with a striking moment showing a character, presumably the hostage, morphing into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.
Unique Rewards and Bonus Features
Players who accomplish the quest will receive an unique katana together with multiple objects hidden throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also contains premium Attack on Titan item packs, including:
- Titan-inspired outfit for Yasuke
- Mikasa outfit for Naoe
- Special implements
- Survey Corps vehicle
Newest Free Story Content
This release also brings the game's third free story content, titled "The Mystery." This playful quest pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange signature techniques: Naoe introduces a performative interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires non-lethal stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "The Enigma" also features a new environmental puzzle that may eventually explain some lingering questions from the main storyline.

This represents not the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with popular anime properties. The series earlier showcased a 2020 cross-promotional story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Furthermore, Valhalla unofficially contained a quest that obviously referenced the popular series One-Punch Man.
