Nearly twenty-five thousand households in south-east Queensland woke up experiencing outages on Monday morning after intense storm systems passed over the area, generating strong winds hitting 109km/h.

Residents observed large ice chunks measuring up to 7cm in particular locations. Weather authorities verified that various areas across the state had been impacted by large hailstones.

Emergency response teams responded to 598 emergency reports across the state, mainly for property damage but also for fallen timber and water accumulation.

Humid circumstances were forecast to persist along significant areas of the state's eastern regions this next several days as a low-pressure trough continued to pull in damp air against the coastal areas.
