Paris Saint-Germain Defeats Olympique de Marseille in a Shootout to Lift French Super Cup in the Middle East.

Trophy celebration scene

The Parisian club has now won the prestigious trophy on 14 different occasions.

The Parisian giants needed a stoppage-time equaliser followed by a successful penalty shootout to overcome Marseille in Kuwait and capture a record-extending fourth consecutive French Super Cup victory.

The Champions League holders appeared to be coasting towards a straightforward win in the match featuring the Ligue 1 winners and the Coupe de France holders after the French winger found the scoring early on.

However, Marseille struck twice late to take a surprise advantage. Initially, the English forward converted from the spot-kick, before the defender inadvertently directed the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a breathtaking turn of fortune, Goncalo Ramos grabbed a crucial leveler in the final moments to send the match into a deciding shootout. PSG goalkeeper Chevalier then stood as the key figure, stopping crucial attempts from Matt O'Riley and Traore.

In the shootout, Ramos, Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, and the young talent all scored successfully for PSG to seal a convincing penalty win.

The record champions Paris Saint-Germain, who faced last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Marseille after achieving a domestic double, have now won this competition for the twelfth time in the last 13 seasons.
